A New Beginning
Bruno Nascimento’s journey into the Canadian legal field began after he successfully completed law school and passed the bar in Brazil. Rather than starting his legal career there, he made the bold decision to move to Canada for new and exciting professional opportunities.
“I passed the bar in Brazil but chose not to be called. The legal market in my region didn’t offer the prospects I wanted, and many of my peers relocated to other parts of Brazil. I decided to move somewhere completely different,” Bruno explains.
Building a Practice in Canada
In Canada, Bruno found his niche in real estate law, focusing in both residential and commercial transactions. Since becoming licensed in 2021, he and his firm have successfully closed over 1,000 real estate deals, marking a significant achievement in his career.
Overcoming Challenges
The transition to Canada came with its challenges. “Starting my master’s studies here was tough,” Bruno recalls. “It wasn’t just about learning the language but about adjusting my communication style to sound more natural in English.”
Leveraging Previous Experience
His prior experience in sales played a key role in easing his transition into the legal profession in Canada. “Working in sales taught me valuable customer service skills and helped me build relationships that became referrals once I started practicing law.”
Serving the Brazilian Community
Bruno is also committed to serving Ontario’s Brazilian community, recognizing that Brazilian clients often appreciate more detailed communication from their lawyers. He believes that this can elevate client service in Canada, offering a more personalized and thorough experience.
Recent Achievements and Future Goals
Bruno recently became a partner at his firm, Chadha Nascimento LLP. He is excited about the opportunity to further expand the practice, with potential plans to work with clients in other provinces. Although Bruno has not formally participated in structured pro bono programs, he consistently provides pro bono legal advice to those in need, reflecting his strong commitment to giving back and supporting the community.
BCBA thanks Bruno for sharing his story. Stay tuned for our next edition of Meet Our Members, where we continue celebrating the inspiring journeys of Brazilian legal professionals in Canada.
